Frequently Asked Questions About Marijuana
Cannabis 101
Cannabis is an annual flowering plant in the Cannabis genus. Humans have harvested it throughout time for industrial fiber, oil, recreation, spiritual pursuits, and as medicine. Cannabis is categorized into two types for consumption: Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica. These plants contain cannabinoids, which are the active ingredients in cannabis. The most commonly known cannabinoids are THC, CBD, and CBN.
THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)
THC is is the principal cannabinoid of the cannabis plant and produces majority.
of the psychoactive effects associated with marijuana.
CBD – (Cannabidiol)
CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, thought to be primarily
responsible for body pain relief.
CBN – (Cannabinol)
CBN is a psychoactive cannabinoid occurring after the degradation of THC, generally resulting in drowsiness.
Nope! Chronic Solutions offers recreational marijuana and is open to the public, 21 years of age & over, with a valid ID.
The sale of cannabis in Washington is strictly regulated and it’s important for everyone to Know the Law. While it is legal for anyone 21 and over to purchase cannabis from a licensed recreational marijuana business, it is illegal to:
- Give marijuana to minors
- Sell marijuana unless you are a licensed business
- Drive under the influence of marijuana
- Consume marijuana in public
- Take marijuana out of the state
Traditionally, Cannabis Sativa is used during the daytime due to its high THC levels and its cerebral, uplifting effects. Sativa use commonly results in appetite stimulation, creativity enhancement, and an uplifted mood.
Cannabis Indica is often used at night, as its effects tend to be more sedative, relaxing, body-focused and "mellowed out". These reactions are attributed to higher ratios of CBD: THC.
Cannabis Hybrids are crossbreeds of sativa and indica strains that display characteristics of both plants. Hybrid plants are usually sativa or indica dominant and are genetically bred according to the desired traits.
In accordance with WA State Law, all farms and producers are required to responsibly tests their cannabis for levels of cannabinoids such as THC and CBD called a potency analysis. At this point, the product(s) are also treated to a microbiology and foreign matter screening to gain quality assurance ratings. Only "Class A" ratings are allowed to be sold for any cannabis product in accordance with state law. Potency analysis test results are listed daily on our menus and can always be found on the product packaging. Microbiology and foreign matter test results are available upon request.
"THC" refers to the amount of THC in the tricome crystals on the outside of the plant. "CBD" , likewise. The "A" sometimes listed with these percentages refers to the "Active" amount, or the actual amount received by the individual during the act of burning and inhalation. At this point, lab analysis varies between labs and there is no state oversight of the labs yet, thus these percentages (especially on flower) don't often reflect the strength or effects of the corresponding high.
Cannabis is a flowering plant. The flower (bud) can be smoked or vaporized. It can also be extracted into a concentrated form. To produce concentrated forms of cannabis, a solvent or solvent-less extraction method is used, resulting in oil, hash, or wax. These products can be smoked, vaporized, or infused into food and topical products.
Smoking/Vaporizing
- The flower of cannabis can be ground and smoked out of a pipe, water pipe, or rolled into a joint. The flower can also be used with a vaporizer, heating the marijuana to a temperature lower than its combustion level yet high enough to activate the cannabinoids; this is a good option for users who do not want to inhale smoke. The onset of the effects of smoking and vaporizing cannabis are immediate.
Edibles
- Concentrated forms of cannabis can be infused into food and beverage products. Once eaten, the active ingredients metabolize in the body through the gastrointestinal system. There are dairy-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, nut-free, and gmo-free edibles available. When using this form of cannabis, the onset of the effects is typically delayed anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours with a longer-lasting high in the body. Edibles can have quite varying effects on each person. It is necessary to find a milligram dosage that works best for you. It is recommended to start off with a smaller dose and increase as your tolerance permits. If you have any questions or concerns about edibles, please feel free to ask our knowledgeable budtenders anytime you visit a Chronic Solutions location. We are happy to help!
Tinctures
- Glycerine-based or alcohol extracted. Commonly used orally, and placed under the tongue (sublingually) or mixed with a drink and ingested.
Topicals
The topical use of cannabis can provide anti-inflammatory benefits when applied locally. It can be used for joint and muscle pain. This form of use, generally, does not induce psychoactive effects.
Edible forms of cannabis are measured into milligrams (mg). For people with a low tolerance, a recommended starting dose is 5-10mg. Other forms of cannabis (flower, joints, concentrates like wax, shatter, etc.) are sold by the half-gram(0.5 g), full (1 g) gram, an eighth (3.5 g), a quarter (7 g), half-ounce (14 g) and full ounces (28 g). Due to personal body chemistry and individual tolerance levels, other forms of cannabis intake (smoking, vaporizing, dabbing, etc.) will vary considerably from person to person. Please feel free to ask your budtender any questions you might have about marijuana dosage!

Adult Use & The Law
FAQ's about legal cannabis use in Washington state
With the implementation of Initiative 502 (I-502) Washington State made it legal to grow and sell recreational marijuana; sales to the public began July 8, 2014 after decades of prohibition. However, federal regulations still prohibit marijuana as a Schedule 1 drug. This disconnect between state and federal leaves some gray areas and lots of questions for consumers. Chronic Solutions would like to remind patrons that marijuana has intoxicating effects and may be habit forming. Marijuana can impair concentration, coordination, and judgment. Do not operate a vehicle or machinery under the influence of the drug. There may be health risks associated with marijuana. For use by adults 21 and over. Marijuana is unlawful outside the state of Washington and should always be kept out of reach of children.

State Law requires that anyone entering a retail marijuana store show a valid photo ID. Valid ID's must not be expired and must show the bearer's date of birth, signature, and photograph. Acceptable ID's include driver's license (paper/temporary OK with expired or punched original), military ID, Official Passports, and tribal ID's. If you have an international passport and it is not readable in English, service may be denied.
You may! Tips are greatly appreciated, but not expected.
The law is very clear that there can be no open containers of marijuana, or consumption of marijuana at licensed locations. At this time, smell jars, while legal, have become a liability for Chronic Solutions locations due to the LCB requirements to track and label each jar as well as the increased likelihood of theft with these small jars. In general, we no longer offer smell jars and apologize for this inconvenience.

The law does not address the topic of drug testing but it is our understanding that employers may still conduct drug testing at their discretion. Since marijuana is illegal under federal law institutions that receive federal funds will still be subject to mandated testing. For example, organizations such as the NFL and NBA have issued statements that marijuana consumption is a violation of their conduct policy and they intend to continue testing for it. If you have concerns about drug testing, ask about or look into your employer's drug policies.
The law states that it is unlawful to open/consume a package of marijuana or marijuana infused product in view of the general public. This would include, but is not limited to, places like parks, parking lots, public gatherings, college campuses, and/or walking down the street.
